Tips to Avoid Job Scams

Sutherland has recently been notified that forged job offers are being presented on behalf of our organization by an unknown party or parties, connecting with both passive and active job seekers through such forums as Google Hangouts and social media channels. Illegitimate employment opportunities are being offered, followed by a request for sensitive, personal information, such as personal contact details and social security numbers.

To ensure our candidates communicating directly with recruiters employed by Sutherland, we’ve provided some of the common attributes found in these fraudulent offers, which are as follows:

    • Fraudulent emails are coming from public email IDs or sometimes use the names / email addresses that are found on the Sutherland company website.
    • These offers call for submission of information from potential candidates, personal or otherwise, including prior salary statements, income tax statements etc.
    • The perpetrators’ attempt to limit all communications to email exchanges, trying to avoid calls and in-person meetings, including after false offer letters are delivered to the targeted candidate.
    • These communications often contain grammatical or spelling errors.

We take great pride in the relationships we build with candidates and consider it a privilege to be part of anyone’s career path. As such, we require that all members of Talent Acquisition and Human Resources follow a very structured process when interviewing, hiring and welcoming a new employee to our organization.

If any person receives any unsolicited or fraudulent communication that either offers a job or requests an interview on behalf of Sutherland, requesting information, personal or otherwise, please take one or both of the following measures to ensure you are communicating directly with an employee that is authorized by our organization to extend an offer of employment to you:

Visit our official Sutherland website to obtain the contact details of the Human Resources department in your city or country, to confirm the interview details and any other related information that was provided to you or requested of you. For this information, please visit:  or you may email inquiries directly to

We also urge the job seekers to be cautious when opening links or attachments from unknown third parties posing as Sutherland recruitment team or agencies authorized to work with Sutherland.

We must caution that any potential job-seeker willingly corresponding with such individuals and recruitment agencies and sharing any personal information in any manner whether by e-mails or otherwise will be doing so at their own risk. Sutherland does not accept any liability towards the representation made in any fraudulent communication on its behalf by imposters and such fraudulent communication shall not be treated as any kind of offer or representation by Sutherland or its affiliates across the world.
