Sutherland Superstar – Kat Taylor

Sutherland has a plethora of incredible people. However, we have many who are willing to go the Extra Mile. In acknowledgment of their efforts, we honor them being Superstars. Meet Sutherland’s latest star.

    1. How and when did you first begin working at Sutherland?

August 4, 2008 was my first day of employment with Sutherland. The economy at the time was not favourable and I was unemployed for approximately nine months. There was an overabundance of unemployed people with very few job opportunities in the area. Employers were able to choose the best-suited candidates for employment.

A representative within Sutherland interviewed me for a Technical Support Representative position for a campaign related to personal computer maintenance. My customer service experience and patience ensured that I was the best candidate for the position.

    1. What drives and motivates you to give your best each day?

Personal aspects in my life have impacted my job performance. My immediate management team has been diligent in assisting me to perform at my full potential and remain one of the top performers in the current campaign that I am a member of.

    1. What are your top three most important accomplishments here at Sutherland?

My top three most important accomplishments are that I have learned skills to remove malicious software manually from personal computers. I have learned skills to assist IT Administrators installing and configuring specialized software in specific environments. I have learned that I am more strong willed, competent, and intellectual than I ever thought imaginable.

    1. What is your favorite thing about working at Sutherland?

The business process transformation industry is performance driven. It is a different aspect than traditional automotive and manufacturing, in which seniority is the main drive of the employees within this particular region. By continuously persevering and maintaining high daily performance metrics, I have been able to earn my preferred shifts regardless of my tenure, as well as earn yearly merit increases based on my performance.

    1. Do you think there is growth potential for people who want to advance their career at Sutherland?

Each campaign contains its own environment and contractual commitments, so requirements for advancement can change by campaign to campaign.  Those who want to advance within the campaign and/or corporation are very driven to be the best, and this results in a very tough competition when advancement opportunities arise.

I graduated from the University of the West Indies Mona Campus with a B.A in Language Communication and Society. I love anywhere with water and can’t swim to save my life, but it doesn’t stop me from jumping in (life jacket and all). I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and having chill moments that help me to unwind and enjoy the simply things in life. When I’m not working, I enjoy planning trips with my friends across the country to see rivers, falls or the beach, having a barbecue cook out, or catching a movie on the big screen. I also enjoy singing and karaoke events. My motivation in life is my family, as they have played a major role in molding me into the young woman I am today.
