Stress-Free Work Day


By AJ Smith | I enjoy spending time with family and friends. As a graphic designer, I mostly prefer abstract designs as they are more fun to play around with. I also do logo designs, posters, business cards and much more. Designing is my passion and I enjoy doing it on a daily basis. In my down time I enjoy going to the beach, watching a good movie, chatting with friends, going out for dinner and just enjoying the simple things that life has to offer. I consider myself to be hardworking, fun, loving, caring and just wishes the world was a better place. Overall I love what I do and I love the SKIN I’M IN!!

Want advice on how to go through a stressful day at work? You’re in luck!

A typical day at work can be very stressful and things can get really confusing. Uuuuugh! Not a very good feeling is it? In instances like these, my favorite thing to do is take a little break to reset.  I stop, breathe and take a walk. It helps me every time I am feeling overwhelmed and I need to get motivated again.  There are many ways to re-energize and take control of your day. Here are a few other stress-relievers that you should make a part of each day to stay happy and find success!

Smile – Another great stress reliever? A good laugh! Having at least one friend at work that makes you smile or even better, laugh, can make a world of difference. Finding the fun in your work day and enjoying your team members can make a big project feel far less overwhelming

One Step at a Time – A lot on your plate? Attack it one piece at a time and once that is finished, move onto the next step. Looking at a big list can create a lot of stress so prioritize and put all your efforts towards one “to do” and when it’s complete, that feeling of accomplishment will give you the energy and motivation to tackle the next task…and the next one after that!

Ask for Help – You’ve got team members and leaders for a reason. Ask for help if you need it! Team work and support from leadership can lessen the amount of stress that is on one person. If the workload is shared and things get done faster, everyone wins! Sometimes even a conversation to discuss the project and outline the steps can make a huge difference so always raise your hand if you need a little support. Team work makes the dream work!

Get organized – What better way to lessen stress than to organize your work!  You’re overwhelmed, you’ve got lists and projects all over the place, you don’t even know where to start your day. Taking a few minutes to get organized will not only tidy up your desk, but will also help you plan your day and give you the mindset you need to attack all that’s before you with determination! How to get organized? That’s a great question… Work can be organized in different ways so I’ll give you a few tips to get you started:

Prioritize– It is very important to note which project is more urgent; Those that have top priority get done first. That’s the best way to start your list!

Time Management– the number one key to getting things done. Organize your time well and ensure you don’t spend too much time on any one project and as a result, not deliver on another action item.

Task Tracking– It also helps to make note of what projects are completed, not completed or have not been started yet. This wilL ensure that nothing is overlooked!

Work doesn’t have to be stressful, it can be fun and relaxing if you use some of the tips I’ve provided and you take your day on one bite at a time. The best advice of all: choose a career path that allows you to do what you love.  You’ll have fun doing work each and every day… even on the busiest of days! Loving your work makes you more inclined to Get Up and Go and with these tips as part of your work day, you’ll be happy…and successful!
