1. How and when did you come to Sutherland?
I came to Sutherland in 2010. I had been laying ceramic tile for the previous 15-20 years and was looking for a change. I knew someone who worked for Sutherland and I heard that they were looking for someone to oversee the build out of the Rochester Tech Park facility. I had an interview with Mark Fraser and Joe Schiedel, and here I am 6 years later traveling and overseeing the buildouts of multiple facilities.
2. Tell us something about Sutherland or your role specifically that others may not know.
I think Sutherland is a great place to work. If you have the drive and ambition to succeed, Sutherland will provide you with the tools and opportunities needed to do so. Sutherland has been a life changer for me. I now feel secure in my future, I work with great people, I get to travel, and I enjoy what I do for a living.
3. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received at work or in life?
“Nothing is free in life. If you want something, you have to earn it.” I’m not sure if someone specifically told me this or if I just heard it, but I strongly believe in it.
4. What are you looking forward to the most in 2017?
I hope to be enjoying a new piece of land. It has always been a dream of mine to own a large piece of land in the country, and I plan to check it off my to-do list this year.
5. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself working for Sutherland and furthering my career within the facility build out team.
6. What do you do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy camping, hiking, playing the bass/guitar, working on my house, and spending time with my family.
