Platinum Performer – Brian Breland

Sutherland has a plethora of incredible people. However, we have many who are willing to go the Extra Mile. In acknowledgment of their efforts, we honor them as a Platinum Performer. Recipients of this prestigious award are invited to our special quarterly dinner where they are recognized for their contributions to the company. Meet Sutherland’s latest awardee.

1. How and when did you come to Sutherland?

I came to Sutherland in November of 2015. I got tired of working jobs that offered no real future or wasted my talents. I wanted a career where I could grow and use the tools I was taught in school. A friend told me about a company he had heard about and here I am.

2. So far in your career at Sutherland, what are your top three most important accomplishments?

My top three accomplishments are:
a. Being a Top Performer award winner for 2016
b. Two-time Platinum Value award winner
c. Being a member of the top team in February 2017

3. What would be your advice to someone who wants to work in your position at Sutherland?

My advice would be to take small steps. I don’t mean think small, but take small steps. When you have a huge goal to achieve, it’s easier to see progress if you chop that huge goal into several smaller ones. This way you don’t get discouraged and give up. Follow the advice from your Team Manager; they are there for a reason and worked hard to get there.

4. What makes Sutherland stand out from your previous employer(s)?

I love the fact that Sutherland consistently rewards and praises employees that do well. Most companies may give you a pat on the back, but Sutherland rewards with gifts and monetary opportunities. Sutherland truly makes you feel valued and needed.

Also, the support I receive from Team Managers and fellow team members is something I’ve never experienced like I have experienced here at Sutherland. I can ask any question, and within seconds, I have three or four people providing me answers and suggestions. The teamwork is what makes Sutherland the best.

5. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received at work or in life?

The best advice I have ever received is to always ask questions you don’t know the answer to. Trying to do something blind is worse than asking for help. Everyone has needed help at some time or another.

6. What three words best describe you?

Self-driven, motivated, and educated are the three words that best describe me.
